A little of our history...
Abacus was formed in August 2002 to provide independent mortgage advice to people looking to either buy or remortgage a home. From its early beginnings the company has grown steadily over the years, surviving the credit crunch, and now operates from its offices in Hamilton Square, Birkenhead & High Street Connahs Quay; serving clients from all walks of life and covering the whole of the UK and beyond. We have clients worldwide and, thanks to modern technology, are able to conduct business not only on a traditional face to face basis - in your home or at our offices – but also by email, post and telephone.
We have survived because we are good at what we do. We arrange mortgages for our clients that suit their particular circumstances, preferences and requirements. So whether you are just looking for a more competitive interest rate, or have a complex set of circumstances that have prevented you from getting a mortgage elsewhere, please give us a call.
We are also Protection specialists. Most people recognise the need to ensure that their mortgage will be repaid in the event of death, but surprisingly tend to overlook the need to ensure that their surviving family do not suffer financial hardship in the event of their death, or indeed in the event of their inability to work for a prolonged period due to illness or injury.
We can tailor suitable protection arrangements to fit your budget through the provision of a computerised lifestyle protection report which will highlight the areas that you need to prioritise in order to ensure that your family will not be financially disadvantaged in the event of death, illness or injury. For example, it is quite likely that a typical family scenario will show that whilst the mortgage will be repaid in the event of death there is nothing in place to provide the surviving spouse and children with an income to replace that lost through the premature death of a partner. Similarly, there is normally insufficient cover in place to replace income lost through illness or injury.
Protection policies have been evolving rapidly over the last few years and there are many options to consider when selecting protection provider – surprisingly, the monthly premium charged by the company is not the most important – as this can be reduced if more than type of cover is selected. Also, some providers offer additional benefits if you take out a plan with them – for example access to a dedicated 24hr Healthline, or Best Doctors, or even a reduction in premium over the years if you maintain a healthy lifestyle. Therefore, buying a protection policy through a purely premium based price comparison site (which not all insurers subscribe to anyway) can actually be a false economy! The message is clear, protection advice is just as important as mortgage advice.
For those clients who are also business owners we also offer a comprehensive Business Protection package. If you would like to know more please click the link and you will be taken to our dedicated website.
